Lilypie First Birthday tickers

I see London, I see France...

This picture is totally unrelated to the post, but what's a good post without a picture?

Another funny story from school:
Miss Patsy laid Addy down for her afternoon nap the other day. Addy really likes being in her bed, playing, laughing, etc. It's not uncommon for most naps to have an "intermission" where she wakes up, babbles, laughs, chats, etc. and then goes back to sleep. And this day was no exception. Miss Patsy, at some point when the chatting had gone on particularly long and it seemed Addy must be "done" sleeping, went in to check on her. What I left out, so far, is that Addison had been put down in just a shirt and diaper because it was a little warm out. So what did Miss Patsy see when she walked into the room? Addy was laying there, bare-bottomed, waving around her diaper like a lasso and having a grand time. Luckily, it wasn't a messy diap diap! In other news, somewhat related, she's also learned to take off her socks. I see a trend developing...

Eat your greens!

Addison started solid foods around five months. She didn't "love" the cereal. She'd keep her mouth closed, not make eye contact, etc. Then, she finally started to get a little more interested. A few weeks into it, we started introducing veggies and fruits. Green beans, apples, peas - and now carrots. In the last week or so, she's gotten way into eating her big girl food. And to really prove it, she pulled the funniest stunt at "school" the other day.

She typically eats some cereal and fruit in the morning at school. A couple hours later, she'll take a bottle. Well, on her six month birthday, when it was bottle time...she totally refused it. She looked at the other kids, eating big kid food, looked at the high chair, and flat out refused her bottle. So, Miss Patsy gave her some green beans! And that's totally what she wanted. She had a little bit, then drank her bottle. She's a big girl now! At least she likes her greens!

Five and change

Okay, so Addison has grown (just a bit). Every week, it's my goal to post something-anything-to document these early weeks and months. They've been thrilling, tiring, rewarding, confusing--but mostly, unreal. She is absolutely the most amazing baby girl. Ever. And even when she's on her sixth wake up of the night (she used to have the sleeping through the night thing down pat-and now she doesn't-I miss those days!) I still find myself, stumbling back to bed, thanking God for my sweet, sweet baby girl.

I could go back and recount the last six months (in some foggy detail, that is)-and maybe at some point I'll do that in words or pictures (there's lots of cute ones!) but for now...I've succeeded in my goal of squeaking one little post in before her six month birthday.

My second goal is tucking myself into bed before she decides to wake up!

Twas the Night Before Due Date

Twas the night before due date, and all through the home
No baby had come yet, thus this silly poem.
The onesies were folded, in the nursery with care
In hopes that Addison soon would be there.

So Dad and I waited, Gigi and Chief too
With hopes of our dreams finally coming true.
We settled ourselves in, to watch the Games
To see if Shaun White could live up to his fame.

Hopefully by this time tomorrow,
Mom's heart will be filled, with joy and not sorrow.
And, at last, you will be in our arms
Surely already working your charm.

Tick Tock Tick Tock

Well, the big goal of January was to post something since SO much has been going on. But, there was just a little TOO much going on and we never got to it. So, in honor of the recent late show wars...here's our top ten list:

10) Auna celebrated the big 3-0 (turning 30 and being nine months pregnant is not the ideal combo, therefore a half birthday celebration is in order this year)

9) we took fake Christmas photos in front of the Christmas tree while it was still up and since we didn't send out cards anyway (Chief wasn't very cooperative)

8) Auna had her Tucson baby shower, hosted by her wonderful friends Melissa and Robin—Addy was showered once again and we found ourselves with even more things that we don’t know how to properly use

7) J got to hit the links a couple of times, taking advantage of the freedom and the wonderful Tucson weather (according to Al Roker—gag!—much of the country has had pretty miserable winter weather-who knew?)

6) the winter sun comes through the side window now, making a perfect spot under the table for Chief to sun himself...not the most flattering photo, but he's silly like that

5) we’ve put the finishing touches on the nursery—still no photos, really (SORRY)

4) Auna’s work threw her a baby shower and invited all her sales reps, who of course showered Addy once again (this times, gifts in return for wine!)

3) Auna shocked J (and the Odells) when she reached for some crispy bacon and devoured it while out to dinner. A bacon hiatus for 15+ years was no match for a pregnancy craving.

2) on January 28th, Addy reached full term! ‘nuff said

1) on January 29th, Auna found herself wondering why Addy wouldn’t just come out already! Therefore, the much requested belly shot. (Yes, I do appear HUGE. But my doctor insists that I am measuring “right on track” to the digit at every appointment—ALL belly.)

We are now accepting bets on when Addison is going to make her way into this little world of ours. Official due date is Feb 18. A prize to the winner!
